Update: Corey’s wife Alicia Taylor, took to Twitter on Sunday to update fans on Corey’s condition, saying: “Corey is doing well and thanks everyone for the sweet thoughts and messages. Ready to get him home as soon as it’s safe, so I can take care of him! He (very luckily) hasn’t lost his sense of taste or smell so I send him stupid amounts of snacks, hydration powders, and yummy desserts.”

Slipknot singer Corey Taylor was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19.  The 47-year-old Taylor has been touring across the U.S. this summer in support of his solo album, 2020’s CMFT; the tour wrapped up on Aug. 19 in Denver before he tested positive for COVID-19 the next day.  Taylor says that the virus has made him “very, very sick,” forcing him to call off his appearance at the Michigan pop culture convention Astronomicon over the weekend. He shared the news in a video posted on the Facebook page for Astronomicon: “I wish I had better news. I woke up today and tested positive, and I’m very, very sick. So I’m not gonna be able to make it this weekend. And I am absolutely devastated. I am so sorry. I hope everyone has a good time, and I promise you I will absolutely try to get back there as soon as I can.”  Taylor said that because he was vaccinated, he “should be okay” and was “not worried” about his illness. He then added, “But I certainly wouldn’t want to spread it to anyone else. So, everybody be safe out there. And thank you so much. And I will see you again, I promise.”

Astronomicon organizers shared their own message on Facebook saying in part: We wish Corey a speedy recovery and we urge everyone to remain vigilant. If you’re coming to Astronomicon, please remember to wear a mask to keep yourself and everyone at the event safe.”
