In anticipation with of our interview with xSPONGECOREx, I would like to take the time to express how and why I came to enjoy their music. The first episode of Spongebob aired on May 1, 1999 and like all other eight year-olds at the time, I was hooked. Spongecore takes those memories and turns them into something I can mosh to. Spongecore doesn’t use original lyrics, but rather takes clips from some of my favorite episodes from back in the day and puts hardcore music behind it. There’s just something about hearing screams of “ALASKAN BULL WORMS” with guitars and drums that takes me back and puts a smile on my face. I first found out about Spongecore through a listener request back when I would kick off all request Fridays, Midnight – 3am, and listened to their album with Trevbot from Dead Air. The new EP is coming soon and if the rest of it is as good as “No Shirts, No Shoes, No Service”, it’s going to be a must download.
